“We have implemented our decision to reposition our forces in Walikale and its environs, in accordance with our communiqué. If the forces of the Kinshasa regime continue their provocations or attacks against civilians in the liberated areas, as well as against our positions, this goodwill gesture will be automatically annulled, and we will eliminate the threat at its source,” declared the AFC/M23 spokesperson.
This statement comes amid ongoing tensions in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), where M23 has been engaged in clashes with government forces. The group warns that any further hostilities from the Congolese army could lead to an escalation of the conflict.
