Kivu-Avenir media saw a video of Christian Malanga saying in Lingala, the local language: “We the military are tired, we cannot march together with Vital Kamerhe and President Félix Tshisekedi.”
The residence of Vital Kamerhe, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Economy and candidate for the post of President of the National Assembly, in the commune of Gombe, was attacked the night of Saturday to Sunday, May 19, 2024 around 04:00 time of Kinshasa by a group of armed men in military uniform. This is what Michel Moto, spokesperson of Vital Kamerhe and national deputy for his party (UNC), reports on his X account.
According to him, two of the police officers assigned to his guard, as well as one of the attackers lost their lives, other sources speak of 3 people who died during the attack on Vital Kamerhe’s residence.
“The Honorable Vital Kamerhe and his family are safe and sound, their security has been reinforced,” he adds.
“There was an armed attack at Vital Kamerhe’s house. In the centre of Gombe, military troops are currently being deployed. Stay vigilant and cautious of your safety.
The situation is currently under control of the FARDC who have reinforced security in the perimeters of the residence of the Head of State after arresting some attackers and others killed after the intervention of the national army who routed these men in uniform
