The leadership structure presented names Corneille Nangaa, Bertrand Bisimwa and Freddy Kaniki as vice-presidents. Sultani Makenga has been announced as chief of staff, while Claude Ibalanky read the declaration announcing the movement.
In its declaration, the FRN states that its objective is to put an end to what it describes as the “tyranny” of President Félix Tshisekedi. This wording reflects the movement’s stated political position and should not be interpreted as an independently established fact.
The announcement comes just days after a critical speech delivered by Joseph Kabila on 9 October, in which the former head of state addressed the country’s political situation.
The announced creation of the FRN raises questions about its political direction, organisational structure and intentions amid ongoing political and security tensions in the country.
Further statements from the movement, together with responses from the Congolese authorities and other political actors, may provide greater clarity about its objectives and the potential implications for the situation in DR Congo.
