Kabund denounces this scandalous maneuver: instead of addressing the real causes of insecurity — corruption, embezzlement, bad governance — the regime seeks to sign lucrative mining contracts that will enrich only a small group of people in power, leaving the Congolese people once again in misery and chaos.
“It is not the lack of resources that prevents peace in the East, it is the greed of the leaders! The money intended for soldiers, weapons, and Wazalendo volunteers is being diverted right under their eyes!” Kabund protests.
A clear message to the Americans and friends of the DRC:
Kabund directly addresses the United States, a country founded on principles of transparency and democracy: “Do not be complicit in a new pillage! Demand firm guarantees that the proceeds from any mining contract will truly be used to rebuild the DRC and save its people. Not to enrich political predators!”
He strongly recalls the bitter experience of the “Chinese contract”: a multi-billion-dollar deal that benefited a handful of corrupt individuals, while the Congolese people saw no improvements in their daily lives.
A call to awaken and mobilize
Jean-Marc Kabund urges every Congolese man and woman to stay vigilant and oppose any attempt to barter away our natural resources without a real benefit for our nation. The DRC is not for sale! Our minerals should fund our future, not the luxurious villas of a few privileged individuals!
The time is critical. History is watching us. The people must rise to defend its heritage, protect its dignity, and demand governance that serves the national interest.
